Social Significance of the Concept of «Soz» in Abay’s Work

Abstract

This article explores one of Abai’s most valuable  opinion – his deep emphasis on the nature of the soz (speech) as a central and meaningful phenomenon in social life. Abai is regarded as the guiding star of the Kazakh people, a moral compass that never fails. He critically observed the society he lived in and used his soz (speech) to challenge the prevalent social issues of his time, such as tribalism, pursuit of status, and materialism. Abai believed that art, knowledge, and science were the key paths to liberate humanity from ignorance. His poems and prose are presented as guidance and moral teachings not only for future generations but for all of humanity. Abai’s intention was not merely to reveal his inner emotional state through lyrical expression, but to address a socially conscious audience capable of grasping the meaning of his words. His work inspires reflection not only among his own people but across all of humankind. One of the scientific concepts that allows us to recognize Abai as a profound scholar is his treatment of the notion of the soz (speech). He elevated the concept soz (speech) to the level of a category imbued with poetic and philosophical depth.

Abai paid great attention to the word, which is the main object of  soztanu (speech science). The recognition of the word science system of such a fundamental language as the Kazakh, which currently has the status of the state language, directly depends on its practical meaning and content, therefore, in folk wisdom, such thinkers and  word jewelers of  as Abai expressed their wise thoughts on the importance of the word.

In addition to the scientific and theoretical goals and objectives, word science occupies a particularly difficult area in terms of its applied nature. Abai paid special attention to the nature of the philosophical intellectual essence of the word, the function of the multifunctional nature. Abai paid special attention to the essence of the word and paid special attention to the presentation of the social and aesthetic, as well as the multifunctional nature of this branch of science. The article analyzes that the deep conclusions and thoughts of the Great Abai about the word, the meaning and quality of the word, the social role are directly related to the science of word.
