In this paper, the povest called Şol Bir Gezek Uçan İt written by Agageldi Allanazarov is examined within the framework of the growth narrative in which a puppy tries to establish its individual existence in nature. Povest focuses on the conflict between the individual’s internal development and social insensitivity.
The struggle of the puppy named Möngözlüje to survive after being separated from the herd and the difficulties he encounters; progresses together with the themes of friendship, fear, solidarity and social alienation. The characters in the work – Lakma, Eagle, Fox, Turtle, Wolf, Bee, Snake, Sparrows – represent both individual symbols and the values, humor and cultural consciousness layers of the Turkmen people.
The narrative language draws attention with its idiomatic richness, onomatopoeia and internal dialogues. Although Povest seems to be written for children, it offers the opportunity for pedagogical and cultural analysis to both the adult reader and the educator with its multi-layered structure.
