This article examines the interpretation of cult in Uzbek folklore and its relationship with mythology, early religious beliefs, and ritual traditions. The purpose of the study is to identify the principal forms of cult reflected in Uzbek folklore and to explain their role in the traditional worldview of the Uzbek people. Historical-comparative, descriptive, and structural-functional methods were employed throughout the research. The theoretical concepts of E.B. Tylor, J.G. Frazer, and É. Durkheim provide the methodological basis for interpreting the origins and functions of cults in folklore. Particular attention is paid to the cults of water, fire, hair, ancestors, nature, and celestial bodies as reflected in myths, legends, rituals, and folk customs. The study demonstrates that these cults represent not only ancient religious beliefs but also important elements of cultural memory, collective identity, and spiritual heritage. The findings contribute to a deeper understanding of Uzbek folklore and provide a theoretical basis for future comparative studies on the mythological traditions and ritual culture of Turkic peoples.
