Formation and Development of Mathematical Science in the Kazakh Language in the Early 20th Century

Abstract

This article examines the principles of developing mathematical terminology in the Kazakh language introduced by the prominent scholar Kanysh Imantaevich Satbayev. Based on his textbook Algebra, the authors analyze his methods of term formation and his effective use of the word-formation potential of the Kazakh language. The study highlights Satbayev’s efforts to adapt terms to the national worldview, explain scientific concepts through elements of Kazakh everyday life, and adjust international terms to the phonetic system of the Kazakh language. Satbayev’s terminological approaches are also considered in relation to the principles of the Alash intellectuals. The findings demonstrate that K. Satbayev’s contribution to terminology played a significant role in the development of functional styles of the Kazakh literary language and in the establishment of the scientific style.
